don’t get it twisted
this life is impossible without great assistance
‘it takes a village’ may be an edict some
merely speak to unclench cheeks but this is a philosophy
not a hypothesis for me
it takes a dentist, a baker, a prophet, and toy maker
to mold this world of a near perfect peace
grandmother on second, an uncle covers third
there’s a neighbor playing short stop and weekends at
dad’s on pitcher’s mound
you might call it a dance but there are no
second chances when it’s your son’s whole being at stake
it’s more of a symphony and we ask no one for
sympathy for this life we make go round
and round and round
i’m grateful to coaches and kind hearted nurses and
even that wise woman we met at the park
each one of them greets us with smiles,
open arms, gifts of sweet treats
and no judgment for pajamas before dark
in all of this chaos I can’t pretend
i’m the boss when I know something bigger’s at the helm
mostly i sit and reflect on how completely
blessed i truly am and wishing
you each a similar fate
Amen.

Loved this.
Thank you.
