there is a something
a
sweet
longing
something
that ties my soul
to this day
this cold october
sunset too early day
that draws me in and
reminds me of a girl
who climbed mountains and
a woman who did in
fact say i love you
first
there is a something
a
sweet
bitter
longing
something
lying in the imperfections
of this narrow mind
exponentially greater than
the love that was known
before love was a word
this date
on a calendar has always
had so much more weight
though in the span
of such a young women’s life
there have been so
many other days
so many heart
breaks
and
openings
so many
joys
simple moments of
ecstasy
the knowing
in the empty
sundae dish
the telling
from those
last tea leaves
remaining
there is a something
a
sweet
bitter
longing
something
that ties me
here
in this space
where you
no longer live
october
sweet
bitter
longing
something
october
with
your cool
not yet winter
mornings
and too soon
sunsets
you hold me
to this place
not quite home
too full to
be alone
this place of
lost and find
I am known
here
I have somehow
grown here
planted my heart
in this space
and every once
around the
sun
I am landed here
my continence even
more contemplative
disappointment more
devastating
here in this space
where there is a something
a
sweet
bitter
longing
something
in the shadows
where only
your scent
remains
