alzheimers…a memory bestowed

my grandmother was an alzheimer’s patient. before that she was a mother of the church. before that she was grandmother to seventeen grandchildren. before that she was a sunday school teacher. before that she was the children’s choir director. before that she was an officer in the missionary program. before that she taught others how to testify to the glory of Jesus. before that she sung in the choir. before that she was a college graduate. before that she changed over her household so that her husband who was diabetic would survive. before that she made sure all 6 of her sons had the very best education possible. before that she could cook chitterlings so that you thought they were a delicacy. before that she was a volunteer at the elementary school across the street from her house. before that she managed a household. before that she birthed 6 sons. before that she finally answered my grandfather’s courting requests. before that she was a trained seamstress. before that she was voted the smartest girl in her neighborhood. before that she was considered a bookworm. before that she learned about christ. before that she was a baby in her mother’s arms. before that she was a hope.

alzheimer’s.

it takes you back.

before the before.
