Self-care is a revolutionary act.
20 years ago I was driving up a mountain in a 5 cylinder manual. My car didn’t want to go up that mountain. Looking out the passenger window, I realized the only thing separating me from a 12,000 foot drop was a railing. A railing. I didn’t want to go up that mountain. But I had an appointment with an anthropologist and I wasn’t going to let no mountain keep me from my date with the Anasazi.
In order to will myself past my fear so that I could climb that mountain and meet up with America’s most ancient tribe, I started repeating this mantra:
Fear is the only enemy, with love I will defeat it.
I didn’t know it then but I know now that but in that moment I birthed Fearfree Living. I made it up that mountain. I met the anthropologist and sat in the homes of the Anasazi. It was an amazing, life-changing adventure that would not have happened if I’d allowed my once paralyzing fear of heights to take hold. That trip also wouldn’t have happened if I’d listened to all the people who told me
You can’t take a trip like that by yourself.
Women don’t drive cross country solo.
You need someone to go with you.
Who’s going to look out for you?
I had to push past my fear, past my self-doubt and love myself enough to believe that I would be able to handle whatever came next. I had to love myself enough.
Self-care is a revolutionary act because it requires you to go against the grain. It requires you to push back against the fear that someone else may go without if you are allowed to have. Revolutionary self-care will give you chutzpah you need to make it up mountains.
In Fearfree Living, I teach that fear as the only enemy, the one true barrier to peace, to prosperity, to a life well lived. I believe that love is fear’s opposite. If you are going to live a fearfree life, you must live your life focused on love.
Fearfree Living is designed to give you the tools you need to help you wage your personal revolution for self-care. I believe in you and my goal is to create content that strengthens your resovle to live a fearfree life. If you consider yourself someone willing to step outside of the roles society has prescribed for you, then this blog is for you!
Wish you the best!
